The corridor that connects the University of Michigan - Flint and Kettering University (formerly GMI) is undergoing an "extreme" makeover thanks to federal funding. With the help of U.S. Rep. Dale Kildee, $2.4 million was secured from the Federal Transportation Bill for this project.

Formerly known as Third Avenue, University Drive has been transformed into a boulevard. When complete the streetscape will feature new lighting, signage, trees, sidewalks and curbs. Overhead wires will also be buried in the process.

This project should be complete by the end of 2008.
