About This Site

Who We Are

The staff at UrbanFlint are simply a group of young urban enthusiasts looking for a way to improve and inform people about downtown Flint and what it has to offer. As you can probably tell by the lack of ads and the simplicity of the site, we are not in this for money - although we are not wealthy and will find ways to break even on the costs of maintaining the site should the site's traffic drastically increase. We just feel that this will be our way of contributing to the success of downtown Flint.

This small group of editors is not exclusive, however. Although we've received small contributions from only a handful of others, we'd greatly appreciate anything that anyone else has to offer. It's becoming cliche of us, but please contact us with any suggestions or ideas you have for the site. We're all ears.

Purpose

The purpose of the site is to become the definitive source of information about downtown Flint and its surrounding area. Our hopes are to inform people as to what downtown Flint has to offer, while improving its perception and success as a result of our work. So far, we've included minimal information about downtown's businesses and developments as well as some photography. As more sections get added, we hope to eventually build an great online community of downtown enthusiasts in the process.

Future of this site

This site is constantly under construction. In the future we want the site to be an all-encompasing database of information for just about anything anyone wants to know about downtown Flint. At the same time we want this to be a website that people want to visit on a regular basis and interact with other downtown enthusiasts (hopefully, attracting new ones).

Not to give too much away to any coming competetors, in the near future we plan to eventually have a very organized and searchable database of downtown events. Each event corresponding to a specific location or business, where when you click on a venue you can just as easily see a listing of events scheduled for said venue.

Since most of Flint's history can be found downtown, there will be a dedicated section for this as well. We plan to cover a variety of things such as past Mayors, historic buildings, famous residents, and the like. Some minimal work has gone towards this, but you won't see it until we have a significant amount available and we've checked all of our facts.

Much more is yet to come, although we won't announce it yet - sometimes backend work makes progress seem slow and people get impatient. We are very excited about what we have planned, but please be patient with us; the work done on this site does not financially support us in our personal lives, so sometimes site work will temporarily take a back seat in our lives.
